a) Tape became hydrolised :
The binder used in the manufacturing process of some tapes (all brands) between 1965 et 1985 absorb ambient air humidity and their physical properties change. This prevents the tape to run correctly and ultimately leads to a complete stop.
It is therefore necessary to process the defective tape, sometimes several times. The duration of this process is roughly 5 days and is invoiiced 10.00 euros excluding VAT.
The defective tapes are generally identifiable by the structure of their back layer, which is of a matte black as opposed to most of the video tapes which are shiny. However, since we process a large quantity of tapes in any format, this problem is rarely encourntered with Philips VCR tapes.
